The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has begun implementing winter time starting tonight, Thursday, October 29, 2026. The Authority confirms that this measure is taken to ensure the regular operation of train traffic across all lines and to avoid any delays that may affect passengers' journeys.
Implementation of Winter Time in Railways
Pursuant to the decision of the Egyptian National Railways, clocks will be set back 60 minutes upon reaching midnight on Thursday, shifting from 12:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This time adjustment applies to all trains operating on the network, as the Authority has taken the necessary operational measures to coordinate journeys during this transition period. The Authority's instructions indicate that trains departing from their origin stations between 23:00 and 23:59 before the time change will continue their journeys according to the new time until they reach their final destinations. Additionally, the departure times of several key trains departing from Alexandria have been adjusted to ensure alignment with winter time, including:
| Train | Route | New Time |
|---|---|---|
| Train 1902 | Alexandria / Aswan | 20:00 |
| Train 3006 | Alexandria / Aswan | 00:50 |
| Train 934 | Alexandria / Luxor | 01:10 |
Based on the Authority's instructions, it has been decided to manage train traffic according to the following regulations:
- Trains departing from their origin stations between 23:00 and 23:59 before the time change will continue their journey and arrive at their final destinations according to the new winter time.
- The Authority applies special operational measures for trains that are "already in transit" on the railway lines at the time of the clock change (i.e., trains that started their journey before the time change and are ahead of their schedules); these trains will continue their route until reaching their final destinations without any change to their schedule after the clock adjustment.
This measure ensures the stability of the daily operating schedule, especially for long-distance journeys.
