The Egyptian National Railway Authority announced the operation of a number of special air-conditioned trains on the Cairo/Alexandria and Cairo/Ismailia lines and vice versa, as part of the celebrations of the 175th anniversary of the establishment of the Egyptian Railways, as the first railway network in Africa and the Middle East.
This initiative comes with the aim of participating citizens in celebrating this historic occasion, and providing special flights at reduced prices during the summer season, in addition to organizing a daily raffle for passenger tickets and offering souvenirs to the winners on board these flights.
Operating special trains at reduced prices on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Egyptian Railways
The Authority confirmed that the new trains are part of the plan to celebrate the historic occasion, while providing trips to coastal cities to encourage citizens to travel and enjoy the services provided inside the air-conditioned trains.
Times of the Cairo-Ismailia special train No. 1017, third, air-conditioned
The railway decided to operate train No. 1017, a third air-conditioned one from Cairo to Ismailia within days:
- Saturday, July 11, 2026
- Monday, July 13, 2026
- Wednesday, July 15, 2026
The train departs from Cairo station at 6:40 am and arrives at Ismailia station at 9:20 am.
The time of the return trip, Ismailia-Cairo train No. 1016
Train No. 1016, third air-conditioned returns from Ismailia Station at 9:00 PM, and arrives at Cairo Station at 11:40 PM.
Ticket prices were as follows:
- One-way ticket: 80 pounds
- Round-trip ticket: 120 pounds
The timings of the Cairo-Alexandria special train No. 1019, third, air-conditioned
The authority also announced the operation of train No. 1019, a third air-conditioned one from Cairo to Alexandria within days:

- Tuesday, July 14, 2026
- Thursday, July 16, 2026
The train departs from Cairo Station at 5:40 AM, and arrives at Alexandria Station at 8:30 AM.
The time of the return trip, Alexandria-Cairo train No. 1018
The return trip will be via train No. 1018, a third air-conditioned one. It departs from Alexandria station at 9:10 pm and arrives in Cairo at 12:00 midnight.
Ticket prices for the Cairo/Alexandria line are as follows:
- One-way ticket: 90 pounds
- Round-trip ticket: 140 pounds
How to book tickets for special trains
The Railway Authority clarified that reservation of outbound tickets is available through all approved official reservation methods, while return tickets are disbursed through ticket windows at arrival stations only.
