The Egyptian National Railway Authority sent emergency equipment and cranes to the Imbaba area in Giza Governorate, in order to lift the front bogie of a freight train tractor after it derailed while traveling on one of the branch lines leading to the Imbaba Silos, to work on returning it to its normal track and removing the effects of the incident as quickly as possible.
Sources from the Egyptian National Railway Authority confirmed that there were no injuries or human losses as a result of the incident, stressing that the movement of passenger trains on the lines was The main facility is running completely normally and regularly without any impact on the daily operating schedule.
Details of the movement of the emergency teams at the accident site
The emergency teams and technicians began their work immediately after the accident occurred in coordination with the competent authorities, as the measures taken at the site included the following:
- Pushing with cranes: Directing the Authority’s heavy lifting cranes to the tractor’s exit location in preparation for returning it to the rails.
- Securing the route: Taking all necessary technical measures to secure the Imbaba silo line and the surrounding area to ensure safe operation.
- Rail inspection: Conduct careful inspections of the railway to address any damage and prepare the branch line to resume the movement of goods trains.
A technical investigation was opened to find out the reasons.
The sources explained that investigations are underway to find out the technical reasons that led to the tractor’s front bogie deviating from its track, noting that a comprehensive technical report is being prepared on the circumstances of the incident to take the necessary measures to prevent its recurrence in the future.
The branch line is scheduled to be fully restarted immediately after the completion of all lifting and securing operations and to fully ensure that the track is ready for safe operation.
